Day 99

Today at 2:45pm Wyatt our sweet angel passed away in our arms and surrounded by friends and family. He touched so many lives and was a gift from God.

More information to come on funeral arrangements.

-Mom & Dad

Day 97

Wyatt had a rough weekend with being bagged many times each day and was somewhat lethargic. Blood work came back fine and no reason for a less than stellar few days. Monday the 3rd was much better as was today. Monday my parents both held him and today Kelly Girls parents both held Wyatt. This was the grandparents first time and they were super excited. He got a bath on Monday and I held him today as well.

Pray for Wyatt and all sick babies.

-Dad

Day 93

Today is Wyatt's three month birthday and it's spooktacular. ? He has had a pretty good last three days but he did have a bad blood gas this morning which did get better a little later in the day. Many of the nurses came in and sang Happy Birthday to Wyatt, he had a bath, some icing from his birthday cake, and a sucker while mom was holding him. Been a pretty busy day.

Please pray for Wyatt and all sick babies.

-Dad

Day 90

Well the last couple of days have been pretty good for Wyatt. He still has to be bagged several times a day but his overall demeanor had been great. This Friday is his 3 month birthday and the cake is already ordered, strawberry of course. Kelly is holding him now and we gave him a bath earlier today. His swelling is down and almost gone.

Wyatt is also ready for Halloween.

Pray for Wyatt and all sick babies.

-Dad

Day 89

Wyatt is doing okay today. Dad is currently holding him so this means they will both be sweating in about 5 minutes!! Since 11am today Wyatt has had to be bagged once. His co2 is in the 80's. That's a little bit high but still ok. His swelling has went down. I will post a better picture later on today when dad gets done holding him.

Again, thank you to everyone for all the prayers and words of encouragement. It really means the world to all three of us!!! We are so blessed to have Wyatt in our lives!!! He is our everything and we love sharing him with all of you guys. God speed little man!

Love, Wyatt's mom

Btw- he had to be bagged this morning with memaw and pops visit and had to be bagged while dad was holding him which ended their session. So we are at a total of three so far today. Boo. We pray for bigger lungs and chest bones, less fluid on his brain, no more seizures, and no more bagging.

Day 85

Wyatt was still swollen this morning and very agitated, so the doctor gave him lasix and his first diaper had 6 oz of pee. Yep that's a lot. He almost immediately look and felt better. He got to swing in his swing this afternoon and this evening Kelly and I gave him a bath. In true Wyatt fashion he pooped in his bath tub...TWICE. Also it looks like he had a small seizure around 10:15pm.

Pray for Wyatt and all sick babies.

-Dad

Day 84

Wyatt Jack had had a pretty good day today. He had to be bagged 2 times overnight, and twice today but not for long on any occasion. He pooped 4 times in a row around 5pm which kept the nurse busy as Kelly and I had left while her Mom was with Wyatt. Glad I didn't have to change him. He has a little swelling around his eyes and cheeks, not sure why but will talk to the Doctor tomorrow about it. I think his swelling came from a little scuffle with the twins around the corner but who knows. You know sharing a little Wyatt-Kwon-Do with the world.

Anyway Pray for Wyatt and all sick babies.

-Dad

Day 82

Wyatt had another seizure this morning around 9:30 that lasted for a little over 4 minutes mostly isolated to his face with some body/limb movement. Even though he may not be having the best of days the staff here at Norman keep him active with new adventures. When Kelly and I arrived this morning we found him in his room swinging (see video). Then Kelly Girl held him for about 3 hours and he was awake for about one of those. We haven't seen him have any of the small seizures that he had yesterday, praise The Lord. He is resting well tonight.

Pray for Wyatt Jack and all sick babies.

-Dad

Day 81

Today was not a good day. Wyatt had to be bagged several times in the early morning and around around 5:15ish he had a full body seizure that lasted about five and a half minutes. The Nurse called the doctor and he gave Wyatt a bolus of Phenobarbital and gave him another seizure drug called Keppra. This along with his normal Methadone knocked him out for the rest of the day. They doctor had an EEG done, see photo, and we are waiting to hear the results from that. We had all of our parents with us and our mothers helped Kelly Girl give Wyatt a bath (a first for them and they really enjoyed it). Then I held Wyatt for about 5 hours. While holding him he was having small seizures off and on all afternoon lasting a second or two each. He continues to receive Tylenol for fever. Today was a very long/busy day. We both got around 4-5 hours of sleep last night and we were at the hospital from 8am to 10:30pm with a two hours diner break with my parents from 6-8pm while the NICU was closed.

Thats all for now, continue to Pray for Wyatt and all sick babies.

-Dad

Day 80

Well the last 6 days have been rough on Wyatt. The beginning of the week he was extremely sensitive, causing him to be bagged quit often. He was having a fair amount of respiratory distress which was requiring him to be on 100% O2 and that barely kept him in the low 90's on his pulseOx. His Crit was low so they gave him 100mL of blood and he has a staph infection in his lungs (they ruled out MRSA) they put him on antibiotics and his CRP levels have come down from 64 to mid 50's to the 40 as of late. He has also had a fever off and on over the course of the week. He was also put back on methadone to help make sure he was comfortable. Once of his worse episodes was being bagged for 25-30 minutes. They would bag him to get his sats back up, put him back on the vent and he would drop back down. It was tough on him and he was exhausted.

Then came Thursday. We gave Wyatt a bath then I held him for a couple of hours then Kelly and I left at 3pm (Thursday). He was asleep when Kelly and I left at 3pm and we talked with my mom and dad in the parking lot for a bit. My parents got in the room around 3:30 and he was wide awake. My dad discovered that Wyatt's fontanel had sunk in dramatically, It has always been bulged but now it was actually sunk in. I will not bore you with all of the minutia concerning how it was found. The nurse immediately got the doctor and they sent Wyatt for a CT. My Mom took pictures and sent to us, you can see for yourself how much different it looks and honestly how visually bad it looks. Kelly and I made a mad dash back to the Hospital and after the CT they had no explanation why it had happened. He was like a totally different kid when compared to the beginning of the week. His eyes were wide open and he was alert and sucking on his pacifier. We had to leave from 6-8pm as the NICU is closed for shift change. When Kelly and I returned at 8 he was on 35% O2 and looked better than he had in over a week. He had also not been on less than 50% O2 in 5 days or so. Friday morning Wyatt had a temp as high as 102.3 I believe. his heart rate was up in the 230 BPM for several hours and was back to not feeling well and his fontanel is now back to normal which is bulging. Kelly Girl held him again for several hours and he did well. He is just not feeling very well. When we arrived at the hospital tonight the nurse said that think Wyatt may have had a couple of small seizures between 6 & 8 but are not sure. Since they were really small the only way to tell for sure is an EEG when one is happening.

As always, Pray for Wyatt and all sick babies.

Day 77

Just a quick update. Wyatt has had a rough time lately. He had two episodes yesterday. One at 4:30 and another at 9:30pm and had to be bagged both times. He also had another episode this morning and had to be bagged. Please pray for Wyatt and all the other sick babies!!!! Thank you guys for hanging in there with us!!! Your support means the world to all three of us!!!

God Speed little man!!!

Day 76

Wyatt had to be bagged 3 times last night around 9:30pm. He was struggling to recover during this episode. He is doing well this morning. He gets to try out a new vent today. I hope it all goes well!

God Speed little man! I love you Wyatt Jack!!!!

Day 75

Wyatt's Saturday (10/11) and Sunday early morning were a bit rough. He had to be bagged several times and wouldn't take his bottle Saturday night. He was very pale and not very responsive. Saturday morning his CO2 had went to 120's and his ph was very low at 7.18. They upped his tidal Volume (volume of air the vent gives) to 30 from 25. Later Saturday they did another blood gas and all looked better but not to normal ranges. Then Sunday morning at 5am we called to check on him and his CO2 was over 130 and his ph was all the way down to 7.1. Again they raised his tidal volume from 30 to 33 and his next blood gas co2 went to mid 60's and ph to 7.48, which is tons better. I will not go into what happens with low PH but just know the body highly regulates it and it should be between 7.35-7.45. (here is a good explanation of ph (http://altered- states.net/barry/update178/ ). He is still on 50% Oxygen.

Once his tidal volume was raised to 33 he was like a new kid. With the help of lots of rolled up blankets and his newest animal, an elephant (thanks Stacy and Spencer) he sat up in his bed and took his bottle in 7 minutes and hung out sucking on his binkie (see video).

We are blessed beyond measure with family and friends, we can never thank you enough for the thoughts, Prayers and support.

As always Pray for Wyatt and all sick babies.

Day 73

It's been a few days again since the last post. Wyatt has had a pretty busy and eventful three days. Physical Therapy has been coming in each day. They stretch his arms and legs and do compression movements to help his joints. He has been tolerating that well. The big news is on Thursday (day 72) he began getting a bottle for part of one of his feeding as a trial. They gave him 30ml (his normal feeding is 90ml, or 3 oz) and he sucked it down in less than 10 minutes. He gets his usual 90ml over an hour. Today (Friday) he gets his bottle twice with 30ml. Kelly Girl (mom) fed him his first bottle yesterday and I fed him today at 12:30am. Next one will be tonight at 8:30pm. Not sure who will get to feed him tonight, we will probably arm wrestle to see who gets to.

On Wednesday Kelly Girl held Wyatt for about 3 hours and yesterday I held for 2 hours. Also we had Wyatt's Great Grandmother Corene Boatwright up on Wednesday along with three of his cousins Kooper, Kash, Kyler (My brother Kevin's kids). One of his other cousins Daeli (My brother Kory's Daughter) was up last Saturday to see him. Big week for visitors for sure. I'm certain Wyatt love all of the attention. Wyatt has been on 50% o2 for the last week or so in order to keep his pulse ox in the 90's. He weighs 10.5lbs and is still as awesome as ever.

As always Pray for Wyatt Jack and all sick babies.

-Dad

Day 70

Wyatt had a really bad episode yesterday about 4:45pm. He had to be bagged three times in a row. All in all he was bagged for approximately 10 minutes. It was so scary to witness! He was not recoving very fast at all. Last night he had to be bagged twice. On a lighter note KJ (Wyatt's dad) is holding our beautiful/gorgeous/precious son right now. Did I mention he looks a lot like me!! hehehe I'm not sure who is enjoying the holding more Wyatt or KJ. Please keep Wyatt in your prayers. Right now he needs bigger lungs to keep up with his growing body (over 10 lbs!!). He is our everything and we love him to the moon and back!!!!

With lots of love,

Wyatt's mom

God Speed little man!

Day 67

Wow it's October, sorry it's been a few days since the last post. Wyatt is doing well overall. He had a rough 36 hours from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday night. Had to be bagged an 7-8 times and it really wore him out. On Friday he had his first Physical Therapy. Wasn't quite like a visit to Golds Gym but he did really well. They worked with him for over and hour and he tolerated it well. He just thought it was a big massage day. They are planing on getting him in a chair that will allow him to sit up and have his feet touch the ground under him. This just keeps Wyatt from laying around and gets his body involved. The respiratory therapists are getting a vent like the one used at Bethany Children's so they can test Wyatt on it. Wyatt has also moved up in the world. He now has a crib and we bought him a 7" TV/DVD player. He is currently consumed with Tom & Jerry. He really loves all the movement and colors on the screen. Many of you are familiar with his Lamb Angel. He now has a turtle, a bear and a stuffed bunny to keep him company. Wyatt, Kelly and I want to give a shout out to Kathryn, Julie and Chelsea up at Children's, you guys are great.

Continue to Pray for Wyatt and all sick babies.

Day 61

Waiting on Wyatt to come home to Norman Regional Heathplex via helicopter!!! Exciting day for the little guy!

God speed little man!

-Wyatt's mom

Wyatt made it in true Wyatt fashion. He came via ambulance instead of helicopter. Once they got on I-35 they hit a bump and made him mad. Once he got mad he had to be bagged the rest of the journey. He is now resting peacefully. Thanks for all the prayers!!! We appreciate all of them!!!!!

-Wyatt's mom

Day 59

Again sorry for the long delay in posting. It has been a busy few days. To begin Wyatt has hydrocephalus (water on the brain, actually spinal fluid). This causes pressure on his brain eventually and can cause difficulty in breathing, his heart to stop or a host of other things. We had a consult with pediatric neurosurgery the doctor was Dr. Yaun, she is the Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery, she is outstanding. Dr. Yaun wanted a head MRI in order to get a better idea of what is going on. This is where we encountered our first hurdle. Wyatt is on a vent that is providing volume control to his little lungs. The only vent the hospital has that is MRI safe only does pressure control. so we switched the mode on his vent as a test and he did not like the pressure control at all, he could not hold his saturation for very long and was very agitated. The MRI would require him to he on the pressure vent for around an hour. Because of this he will not get an MRI and will not be getting a shunt to relieve the excess fluid/pressure that will most likely continue to build over time. There was three days of back and forth with Wyatt's attending Doctor, Dr. Yaun, and pediatric surgery that I will not bore you with, but I will say this if you ever need a Pediatric Neurosurgeon Dr. Yaun has our highest regards. She went to bat for Wyatt when we hit a roadblock with his attending saying that he needed a central line put in. The problem with a central line is pediatric surgery has to do those and they said they didnt want to. She found a workaround and set the attending strait but now all of that is off as previously stated.

This afternoon they are bringing in the transport isolette and test him on it to see how he does. If all goes well we will be heading back to Norman Regional as early as Saturday (tomorrow). We will see. Wyatt has had several bad episodes over the last 3-4 days including one when his trach got clogged, was a very scary moment and probably the worst we have seen.

Pray for Wyatt and all sick babies.

-Dad

Day 55

Well today was a pretty good day. Wyatt had his trach changed and that was pretty uneventful. They started his feeding back this evening and tried to put in a new PICC line but because of all his rolls they decided not to, just couldn't find a good vein under there. He had family with him from around 8am this morning until 10pm tonight. Still holding on at a solid 10lbs.

Pray for Wyatt and all sick babies.
